In the petroleum industry, it can also be used as an additive to oil well fluids and drilling mud, as well as a way to dry fractions, as it absorbs water well. Calcium Chloride can be used in water to lower freezing temperature, as a moisture absorber, and various other uses. Calcium Chloride Lumps is prepared from limestone or by the Solvay process.
